Julie, I'm an ex-facebooker and always cherished your writings--there was so much depth to it. Ironically, when I led teams at previous companies I always went to the personal and people felt a lil weird about it. Similarly to you, I came here when 9 and had many feelings of belonging and proving myself. Now I'm embracing these cultural differences I have (costa rican / persian) and use them as a form of strength and adaptability.
I'm in the process of starting a co (in ideation phase) and will definitely be using some of the above when the time comes to hire.
